Farinon Student Center
Completed in 1991 and constructed of beautiful, hand-cut, local gray stone, the 68,000 square-foot Farinon College Center is the distinctive community center of the Lafayette co-curricular experience. It contains ample common areas, especially in the lobby, where students congregate informally in between and after classes and catch up on the day’s events, read, do homework, and eat. The center houses the Drake Dining Room, and a food court and convenience store for quick meals on the run. Downstairs, you’ll find the post office, Limburg Theater, which is home to film regular film screenings, and the College Store, where you can purchase your books, gifts, stationary supplies, incidentals, and clothing to show your ‘Pard pride.
The student center is home to meeting rooms, the Marlo multipurpose room, a student activities workroom, office space for nine student organizations and several administrative departments, and the impressive three-story Landis Atrium. The principle and “naming” gift for the center was provided by alumnus Bill Farinon ’39 and his wife, PT.

Gilbert’s Coffeehouse and Cafe
A campus favorite, Gilbert’s not only provides a great cup of Green Mountain Coffee or specialty espresso drink but also boasts a full menu until the wee hours of the morning—care for a study break? For lunch, you can enjoy a cup of soup and a great sandwich from the Deli or one of the rotating chef specials from the grill. Any time of day, Gilbert’s is the place to be for a good time and great food.
Gilbert’s is also a prime location for your campus event. Both the front and back rooms of Gilbert’s are fully wired with a full sound system, suitable for small bands, acoustic acts, and poetry slams.

Located just down the hill from the main campus, the Spot provides a cool space for a wide variety of events, including DJ dance parties, bands, formals, sports parties, and other special events.
The Spot complements the College’s existing social venues, giving students a new location for extracurricular life that encourages interaction among members of the campus community in a positive, safe environment. Inside the Spot you will find a dance floor, D.J. booth, professional sound and lighting systems, a bar area with a big-screen TV, and a kitchen that serves free food. There are also three game rooms: one with a pool table; one with air hockey, darts, and a Nintendo Wii system; and one perfect for a game of cards.
On weekend nights when the College is in session, Lafayette’s Office of Student Life Programs runs events in conjunction with student organizations from approximately 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., depending on the event.
Admission to the Spot is restricted to Lafayette students, faculty, staff, and their guests. Each student, faculty member, or staff member may bring one guest per event.
For easy access, there is a free, campus-wide shuttle that provides transportation between the campus and the Spot in a continuous loop. Look out for the Spot logo on the side of the shuttle.
